Madhavan and Kangana Ranaut starrer ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ is doing pretty well at the box office. The film that released past Friday has been directed by Anand L. Rai and has got a clichéd storyline.

Not many had given the film much chance since it was being assumed that the film would not be able to draw the public because of the ongoing World Cup tournament in this cricket-hungry nation. Besides, the film is not extraordinarily good and is just about average. Critics have given the film average ratings only.

But contrary to expectations, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’ has not been shown lukewarm response by the audience. The film has shown an increment in its occupancy rate over the weekend. While Friday’s collection hovered around Rs 3.50 crore, it gained momentum and raked in Rs 4.10 crore on Saturday. At this rate, it may harvest Rs 11-11.5 core overall in its first 3 days.

Kangna Ranaut, who is currently riding high on the success of Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, is in no mood to get hitched —not in a hurry at least.

Kangna, whose frizzy and long hair evokes images of a modern-day Medusa, was linked with Shekhar Suman’s son, Adhyayan, for a brief period. But her relationship with the camera has lasted much longer than those with any man. Kangna says, “For a marriage, you need another person; a partner. I have neither found anybody yet, nor am I in a hurry to do so.” She adds, “I think love has to happen, you cannot look for it.”

Kangna also feels that her timing in the industry has been a bit awry. The girl who hails from the Himalayan ranges, claims that this is an additional reason for her putting off the idea of marriage for a while. She explains, “All my heroes are twice my age. Most of them are already married and settled. The others are engaged so there is no one left for me.”

Unperturbed by the fact that there is no man on the horizon for now, Kangna declares, “I want to concentrate on my career.” Her personal life may have come up against a speed breaker but her career leaves her breathless. Lined up for release this year are Knock Out and No Problem. And she has as many as four films in store for 2011: Tanu Weds Manu, Game, Dhamaal 2, Rascals and One And Only.

Bollywood’s ‘bad boy’ Salman Khan would soon be paired with the Fashion beauty Kangana Ranaut in his debut production. The movie would be directed by Mahesh Manjrekar. Kangna has been enjoying a good streak in the industry. She stars with Ajay Devgn in Once Upon A Time In Mumbaai, and also has signed on the dotted lines for Rascals, a Sanjay Dutt production.

As per a source, Salman will be acting opposite Kangana and in a somewhat shocking move, has not chosen Katrina Kaif. The source also reveals that the actor and the director were looking for a heroine, who could act very powerfully and look glamorous at the same time.

According to Mahesh Manjrekar, the film is going to be a hard hitting one with a dash of comedy. The movie should appeal to the masses. The movie is apparently a remake of a Marathi film, Shikshanacha Aaicha Gho that was directed by Manjrekar as well. No other information regarding the film was revealed.

Bejewelled and bedecked as a bride, Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was the showstopper on the ramp for fashion designer J J Valaya’s show on the third day of Pearls Infrastructure Delhi Couture Week.

Kangana was truly the scene stealer on the show as she stepped on the runway in a red bridal lehenga-choli which was so immaculately designed by Valaya that people couldn’t stop raving about it after the show.

Kangana herself was pretty impressed by the outfit.

“After JJ dressed me up for the show, I looked at myself in the mirror and told him, ‘You are going to design my wedding outfit’,” Kangana told a news agency.

Valaya said his collection, named ‘Alika’, was inspired by the story of a courtesan who was in love with a royal.

While it is known that Kangna Ranaut recently bought a penthouse apartment (a triplex) on the 11th floor of a Bandra building, no one is aware that Sanjay Dutt’s wife Maanayata helped her buy her dream home.

The actress from Himachal Pradesh had been looking for a spacious flat for some time as she wants her family to move in with her. The actress happened to mention it to Dharam Oberoi (Sanju’s business manager) when she was shooting with his boss for Knock Out. Dharam told her that Maanayata knew some builders and could help her. The actress made a call to the star wife. Maana arranged for a meeting with the builders and Kangna and the deal was struck. The spacious flat is worth over Rs 15 crore but she got a concession because of Mrs Dutt. Not just that, she even got the option to pay the money over a period of time.

A source reveals, “Kangna told Maana that she’d liked the flat and was interested in buying it but she didn’t have the money upfront and wanted to pay the money in installments. Maana intervened on her behalf and got the builders to agree. Kangs, a single girl in the city, was grateful for the star biwi’s help. They’ve become friends since.

Dharam confirms, “When Kangna was searching for a flat in Bandra, Maanayata stepped in and sorted it out for her; plus got her a good deal. The deal is final and the flat will be ready by next year. It’s a sprawling place with a swimming pool, health club facilities, etc. Ms Ranaut will have a private lift as she bought the penthouse. It’s one of the poshest buildings in that area. She’s really working hard on the payments and plans to move in by next year.”

Says the Once Upon A Time… actress, “I was looking for a bigger flat as I want my family to live with me. My sister is getting married next year and the 3-BHK flat I stay in, is going to be too small for us. Maanayata has helped me get a good deal.” Last month, when Kangna was in Dubai, she went shopping for her pregnant new friend. She bought a lot of gifts for the babies, clothes, toys, and maternity clothes for the mommy-to-be.

Actress Kangana Ranaut will be seen in a new bold avatar in the upcoming film “Once Upon a Time”. She will be playing the love interest of underworld don, played by Ajay Devgan.

Director Milan Luthra has described his leading lady as ‘enigmatic and passionate performer.’ The director also added that he chose Kangana because she has a great body and her looks is best suited for a film based on era of 70’s.

“Once Upon a Time” starring Ajay Devgan, Kangana Ranaut and Emraan Hashmi is all set to release worldwide on July 30.

Thin girls of the world unite; you have nothing to lose but your, well, thinness. According to Kangna Ranaut, her new curves are not the result of anything surgical but only the outcome of having put on seven kilos overall.

Reacting to our photo feature Full and Final in yesterday’s issue, Kangna clarified, “Not only my breasts but everything has miraculously expanded as I have gained seven kilos. I plan to lose all of it though people actually like me fuller and everyone has been complimenting me though I think it makes me look older than I am.”

On second thoughts, she added, “It’s crazy, but every single person loves me fat. And honestly, I secretly like it too which is probably why I haven’t started gym and yoga yet. But really, on screen, my hollow cheeks look better and in fact, it is important they be that way.”

Some months ago, Kangna had dismissed her fuller lips as a result of eating prawns. Now her obvious enhancements are part of weight gain. If it is the additional seven kilos that are responsible, obviously most of the seven have gone to one part of her anatomy only.
